Beauty Ning - Micro Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

A lovely surprise! We chose Beauty Ning because we can never find enough single-petal white lotus, especially ones with a florescent green receptacle and bright yellow stamens. But this lovely lotus captured us with the perfect bud. And it's not white but the palest of shade of pink. Green and pink perfection! Good flower production in a medium height lotus means it is dynamite in a pot! It will also grow well in a smaller pot to produce a very small bowl lotus.

As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
