Photo by Jamie Moore. Colorful Lantern in Qinhuai is the perfect little lotus to shine on your patio this summer! It will grow well in a small pot and is a prolific bloomer. It also produces viable seeds which is a bit unusual for a miniature variety.

As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
