DaBear - Roll, Tide, Roll - Lotus (Bare Root)
Nelumbo nucifera ‘Touchdown’ — medium lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Down here in the South we take our college football seriously! While most of us say "War Eagle" our family matriarch stands alone and proudly yelled 'Roll, Tide, Roll'! Named after Jeannie's favorite football of all time, Paul 'The Bear' Bryant of the University of Alabama, this lotus has really vibrant red multi-petal flowers that are about 5"-6" wide. This seedling reaches medium to large height and is a winner just like its namesake!
At a glance
- Flower color: Bright Red
- Flower type: Multi-petal, more than 50 petals
- Plant height: Medium/Large, 34'-60"
- Container: 14" and wider, 10"-14" deep
As a medium lotus, this one settles at 6 to 18 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered. Pot size, soil and the rest of the method are in the lotus planting instructions.
