Feather Skirt Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

We fell in love with this one. Feather Skirt is an unusual versicolor bowl lotus. The flower has a luminous color that is slightly orange, in fact, it is sometimes called Carrot Lotus. The outer petals are pointed like a star. The double-petal flower is medium/large compared to the plant as a whole. The colors are very unique and beautiful. Lots of flowers!

As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
