Friendship of Supervisor & Student Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Hybridized by Dr. Daike Tian. Luminescent color. Striped petals! Stunning color! Large lotus with Huge flowers and Huge tubers! This hybrid was developed by Dr. Daike Tian (War Eagle, Daike!) who says it is better suited for growing in a pond than a pot. However, as you can see from our photos, it is a rock star when blooming in a pot, too. This lovely lotus is one of the earliest varieties to produce a flower every year.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
