Happy Children -A Blush of Green Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

One of our favorites. Very dependable bloomer. Lots of big, full flowers. 'Happy Children' has a big fully-double flower. The pointed petals give it extra character so it never gets lost in a crowd! The flower is green when it first opens in the spring before becoming layered with rich colors. A perfect flower for cutting for indoor display!

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
