Highest Virtue Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Guo Feng Liang Jie. This lovely single petal has petals that are extra-light yellow in the center changing to white and ending with tips of violet purple. The flower often opens with green-tipped petals surrounding a brilliant green receptacle in the center. The plate-form flower looks huge against deep green leaves.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
