Inspiration Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

'Inspiration' was named to honor Patrick Nutt, longtime curator of aquatic plants at Longwood Gardens. His passion for teaching others was truly an inspiration to all who knew him. This red lotus has large single flowers with broad petals which give it tremendous visual impact. Give this lotus plenty of room to grow and prepare to be dazzled!

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
