Mangala Patum Lotus (Bare Root)
Nelumbo nucifera — bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.
Mangala patum. It is an honor to be allowed to sell this lovely bowl lotus hybridized by Dr. Nopchai Chansilpa. Mangala patum is one of the first lotus to wake up from dormancy every year. Then it blooms, and blooms, and blooms some more! It flourishes in a small bowl outside and then can be brought inside for a few days at a time to enjoy the beautiful perfect pink flowers which are almost always present in multiples. Mangala patum is The best tiny bowl lotus that we grow. It is extremely hardy, also. The flowers bounce between semi-double and double in petal count. We suggest using the pot-in-pot method when growing this lotus in a pot less than 10" wide - see below.

As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered. Pot size, soil and the rest of the method are in the lotus planting instructions.
