Prairie Dream - Massive Flowering Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — medium lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Crazy good bloomer. Another lotus that produces flowers all summer long! For proof, check out the buds on the group of pots in the picture. This variety is usually covered in cheerful yellow flowers with a heavy petal count. Early flowers usually have petaloid centers but as plants mature a few flowers will produce regular seed pods. It is listed as a large/tall variety but it stays a little shorter in our pots.

As a medium lotus, this one settles at 6 to 18 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
