Ju Zi Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera ‘Flower Power’ — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

New to us in the summer of 2020 was this tall and regal classic dark pink lotus which boasted numerous flowers and lovely seed pods. We were stunned (Really!) when we harvested Ju Zi for the first time due to the sheer number of perfect tubers it produced. We harvest all our pots after one season but since more tubers means more flowers we just may let a pot or two of this go for a second season just to see the number of flowers it will produce! Plan on harvesting this potted lotus every other year because the new tubers will rapidly fill and crowd your pot. Flowering perfection!

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
