Lady Bingley - World Famous Bloomer Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — bowl lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Binglei furen. Lady Bingley (also spelled Lady Binglii) is a very early and prolific bloomer which makes it a perfect choice for those with shorter growing seasons. There are often flowers before there are aerial leaves present. The rich, red color is delightful and it often boasts multiple flowers and buds at the same time. Its tiny size makes it a perfect substitution for Momo botan for those who want lots of zing in a small package. The flower usually measures 4" across--that's a lot of flower on a small plant!

As a bowl lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
