Magnificent 15 - Award Winner Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Gui Li 15. 'Magnificent 15' is a cousin to the spectacular lotus 'Magnificent'. The color is a little deeper ruby red and the flower sometimes has more petals. It blooms just as often as 'Magnificent'. The plant seems to be a little bit more compact than the original but the flowers are just as large. Notice the pink stamen! As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
