Rosy Clouds Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — dwarf lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Pictures by Steve Stroupe. New to us but a standard in the water plant industry, Rosy Clouds is a lovely small/medium lotus with dark pink single-petal flowers. It also adapts well in smaller pots producing a shorter plant that still blooms like a champ!

As a dwarf lotus, this one settles at 2 to 12 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
