Ruby Slipper - There's No Place Like Home Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Beautiful 1st Day Color. Almost as magical as Dorothy's famous slippers in 'The Wizard of Oz'! Every day brings a different look for this beautiful, large single petal lotus. The very large flowers of 'Ruby Slipper' are a bright cheery light red on the first day, change to pink, then white with a pink picotee around the tips of the petals. It grows to about 5' tall in a 24" pot and produces large seed pods that are great in floral arrangements.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
