Storm 13 - Beauty Blowing Through Lotus (Bare Root)

Nelumbo nucifera — large pond lotus, shipped as a dormant lotus tuber.

Fengbao 13. A very distinctive lotus, ' Storm' has extra long outer petals. Each successive row of petals gets shorter until the petals surrounding the receptacle are tiny and tipped with green. Add orange stamen to that for extra zing! This lotus flower changes as the plant matures.

As a large pond lotus, this one settles at 12 to 24 inches of water over the crown once established — start a new tuber under 2 to 4 inches and raise the level as it pushes aerial leaves, with the growing tip left uncovered.
